Gi
The traditional uniform, often referred to as the Gi, is a vital component in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Made from lighter fabric than a Judo Gi, it enables athletes to effectively grip their opponents. This gripping capability introduces a unique tactical element to the sport, allowing practitioners to employ a variety of strategies focused on controlling or submitting their opponents through the use of the Gi. The fabric can be utilized to create leverage and execute a broader spectrum of techniques, making it an essential tool in a BJJ practitioner's arsenal.
-
NoGi
Practiced without the traditional uniform, NoGi Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes a fast-paced and dynamic approach. Participants often encounter a wider variety of permitted techniques requiring quick responses and adaptability. In this format, the need for precise grips and careful positioning is heightened, as traditional Gi grips are not available.
It's important to note that clothing used in NoGi training should be free of zips, buttons, and pockets to ensure the safety and comfort of all practitioners. Those who arrive wearing zips may be required to rent Gi pants for the session, as this helps maintain a focus on technique and reduces the risk of injury during practice.
-
Judo for BJJ

This approach prioritizes fluidity and adaptability, allowing practitioners to seamlessly incorporate Judo's powerful techniques while remaining grounded in BJJ principles.
